My Website is Finally Ready!

I've been uploading my work on this blog and trying to do that regularly but I felt that my work wasn't very well organised or categorised here. The solution was a website where all my work is under categories and serves as a simple portfolio. Please do check it out! Feedback is most welcome. :-)

Book cover illustration - Under the Peepul Tree

What a great start to a Monday - received a copy of this book in the mail today. I illustrated this book cover for Unisun publications over a month or more ago and am happy with how it looks in print. Also a refershing change from the children's book artwork that I'd been doing just before this. Look out for this book in stores soon. :-)

*sniff*

Ok I don't know how many other illustrators face this problem, but I honestly get very attached to my pencils & erasers! Can't seem to get myself to replace this tiny little ball of an eraser *sniff*

How it all begins - pencil + paper!

For the love of illustration!

After all those hours spent huddled at your drawing desk, sketching away in a frenzy to meet a looming deadline, by the time the final page is sent to the publisher I'm exhausted! But finally seeing the book in print is the high point in an illustrator's life. It's even nicer to see your name on the book cover of course, hehe. These are few copies that publishers were kind enough to send me. There are board books that I never got to see a copy of, hmph!

NEW! Activity book for kids

This is one of the most fun projects I have worked on - an activity book for kids with some fun trivia about the city I live in - Mysore. I've shared an image of the book cover and one of the pages from the book here but all the other pages are packed with landmarks, fun trivia, interesting personalities and lots of colour. This book was done for the cool folks at Royal Mysore Walks and was used on their kids tours. Check out their website here to know more about what they do- http://royalmysorewalks.com/

Custom-made Poster

This is a poster that was custom made for a friend that is in their bar area at home. Wanted to capture the Indian 'standing bar' scenario while also staying true to my colourful drawing style. Happy client = happy me.

Cover illustration

This is a cover image I did for the facebook page of Yathes.com, an online gift store - a startup based in Chennai. Tried a different style with this illustration and mighty pleased with the outcome. Check out Yathes' FB page here - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Yathes/170125289789842?ref=ts&fref=ts

A doodle with my pen tablet

Bought a pen tablet two years ago and never used it. Tried a little doodle with it this morning and it works like a dream. Some practice needed, that's all

A tiny tot's b'day party invite

This is the 'before and after' of a a b'day party invite designed for someone. Of course the pencil outline and the final design NEVER look the same, in my case at least! I've also added a clear picture of the invite.

A Bollywood themed invite

So turns out all my close friends are suddenly getting married! It's been a happy set of months attending weddings, catching up with old friends, and watching crazy friends play the role of demure bride! Here's an ilustration of another close friend and her groom that went on their wedding e-invite. It had to be Bollywood inspired for this adorable drama-queen of a bride!Hoping you see the DDLJ link here.
